Here’s a in-progress shot of page 6 of First Flower. It’s been fun combining different techniques…hand-cut collage, pencil marks, digital tomfoolery… and I can finally see what this comic will look like. This page is in the middle of the story, and think things will get visually more-bonkers as the story progresses.
This is for a new IKJK anthology edited by Emily Weija. It’s part of the 4-Square series of books where 4 artists are featured in a 6×6″ book. I think this book is going to be amazing and will feature some sweet artists who play with story-telling and create unique, poetic comics. Jason Overby, maker of wonderful minis, will have a comic in there (he’s posting some images of it on his Flickr), and so will Jen Tong! When I saw her comic, Rainbow & I, I was blown away. New favorite cartoonist. Pick up a copy of this book— I believe the title is “Future”— at the I Know Joe Kimpel table at MOCCA in April!
