A Little Fat Nothing Named Herbie!

We turned in our final projects during an outdoor BBQ. We stashed our comics in the back Jason’s truck. So many comics!
David Yoder is putting his project on his livejournal. His comic was one of my favorites, you should really read GIANT NAKED BABY! It starts here.

Here’s mine, “End of Eros,” with covers the color of assorted jellybeans.
We had a great critique on the last day of class, the best I’ve ever had. It was a real pleasure reading all my classmates’ comics and getting great feedback on my own. I’m in the process of revising ‘end of eros,’ and after that, it’ll be available.
By the way, I have some comics I haven’t shown online at Forbidden Planet, Desert Island, and Rocketship over in NYC.

Another thing I don’t think I’ve mentioned…ping pong is big here in White River Junction. Here’s a pic from the tourny. More pix on flickr.
In June I’ll be in Montreal interning at Drawn and Quarterly, one of my favorite publishers. It means I’ll miss MOCA, which is too too bad! I’ll definitely be at SPX, though.
Today is graduation for the 2nd-year CCSers! Last night we had really good BBQ ceremony from Big Fatty’s BBQ, ending in meat-comas, as everyone’s stomach hurt after eating way too much pork and chicken.

Here’s a silly panel from End of Eros. I colored the comic using pink and purple highlighters. Is anyone going to the Maine Comics Festival tomorrow? I’ll be selling this at the CCS table.
Some CCS alumni are putting together a new Sundays anthology for MoCCA, Sundays 3! This is an always-awesome anthology of beautiful artwork, unique story-telling and interesting book-making techniques. Check out the weekly comics section of their site to read some recent full-color comics by soccer buddies Joe Lambert and Ken Dahl.
I’m planning on using WordPress and ComicsPress for blogging purposes from now on. I found a great plugin that posts directly to livejournal, which is nice since almost every cartoonist I know on the internet I know through livejournal… anyway, there will always be that semi-annoying link to my wordpress blog on my lj posts now. I’m also still working on the design, which means a lot of guessing since I’m not too familiar with altering CSS stylesheets. Aligning tables=rocket science.
But check it out anyhoo… I’ve been uploading some old comics to the blog, such as Creation Myth and Personal Densha.
I’m in Texas, about to go to Mexico for the weekend, eat some cabrito, avoid the murky puddles, buy some new shoes. Also I’ve been in Texas for less than a week and have been to 5 different taquerias!
I’ll be posting the entirety of End of Eros online in June, going at about a page a day. It’s all free, but I’m also selling a mini-comic version, too!

It’s $3.50! The mini is printed in black n’ white and has a nice colored-construction-paper cover. I really intended the story to be read in mini-comic form, but figured I might as well post it online. While I only have 8 left with me here in Texas, I plan on printing more once I get settled in Montreal for the D&Q internship. Because the quality may change a bit, I’ll include some sketches to make it up.
I’m up for trading minis, too!
